Which stabilizer to choose?

Cruiser

The range comes in 3 sizes: S, M, L.

This range of stabilizers offers a good balance between stability, glide and maneuverability. High-performance and accessible, its profile provides glide, while its light boom and progressive dihedral ensure intuitive handling.

This stabilizer covers a very wide spectrum of uses in wing foil, surf foil, sup foil or even downwind.

Stabilizer behavior is characterized by smoothness and progressiveness. Whether you’re winging or kiting, you’ll feel a comfortable sensation of flight, blending control and potential.

This range mounts particularly well on our Performer or Evo range, but also on our Advanced wings (Pure, Silk, …) which allow you to soften the overall look.

Your choice of size will depend on your front wing and your flying style. On our website, you’ll find a table showing the perfect choice based on these two criteria.

Pure

Pure 145 et 150

In this range, we can already distinguish two types of stab: Pure 145 and 150 from Pure HA135 and HA165.

This is a range of stabilizers with a very slim profile.

The stab 145’s lack of dihedral gives it roll stability at high speeds, while maintaining the necessary maneuverability when maneuvering. So, it’s a great stabilizer for anything that’s going to be using racing, free race. But also, for performance freeride, with high evolution speeds . It can also be used in coarse waves, and anything that’s really going to be… looking for high evolution speeds, and looking for control in those evolution speeds. It fits particularly well on our Pure range, but is also ideal for debriding your Performer or Evo range.

The stabilizer 150 has been developed with a dihedral and boom to provide roll maneuverability and attack curves. This means that the turning radius will be much smaller than the 145, making the foil easier to handle. Similarly, it fits particularly well on our Pure range, but will also be ideal for debriding your Performer or Evo range.

Pure HA135 et HA165

Finally, the two Pure HA 135 and 165 are stabilizers with a higher aspect ratio. They provide even more glide and stability. They are particularly suited to downwind use in combo with the Pure HA800 and Pure HA1100.

Silk

Whether for surf foils or wing foils, this range of stabilizers brings smoothness to all our foils when changing direction and maneuvering, which is quite incredible.

Silk 132, 142, 152

On SILK 132, 142 and 152, the compact outline and pronounced dihedral optimize transitions from one rail to the next. At medium and high speeds, they provide multiple changes of support with maximum fluidity thanks to the control provided by the bumps on the leading edge. Linking turns in all directions becomes intuitive and easy.

Silk HA38, HA40 and HA43

The SILK HAs really complement the three compact sizes. Their higher aspect ratio provides more lift and glide.

These HA stabilizers express their full potential at low and medium speeds. They make it easy to pump and relaunch after maneuvers. The dihedral and outline provide excellent maneuverability, ideal for low- and medium-speed carving. The slim profile also provides excellent gliding ability at higher speeds or downwind.

These stabilizers fit particularly well on the SILK range, but also on all AFS front wing models. On our website, you’ll find a table showing you the perfect choice, combining these two criteria according to your riding style.

F.A.Q.

Foil And Co is the parent company of AFS. Its main mission is to relocate the production of our board sports equipment to France. Today, the company has 42 employees and is based in Brittany. We develop, produce and market under AFS. We also have 2 other brands, AHD and SEALION.

AFS was born within the AHD entity in 2009, with the launch of the first windsurf foil combo (board plus production foil). The historic model is the AFS-1, a foil dedicated to light wind freeride practice, with small sail surfaces (5.5m² in 10 knots of wind). Its field of use was later extended to SUP foils, with the Sealion range of boards, making it the first Stand Up Paddle-compatible foil on the market (2011). 2017 saw the launch of the AFS-2, a new-generation foil developed and manufactured in France. With it, AFS takes off and becomes a fully-fledged entity dedicated to foils. AFS’s vocation is to offer a more high-performance foiling experience, while retaining top-notch accessibility and stability to provide all riders with a safe ride thanks to full carbon construction. Thanks to our know-how and high standards, we are the leading foil manufacturer in France. At AFS, our customers feel they are listened to and supported in their choice.

AFS Advanced is a branch of AFS working on the development of an innovative experience. It’s a concentration of AFS know-how taken to the extreme. Being one step ahead and opening up new horizons in the world of foiling: that’s the role of AFS Advanced. It’s our way of concentrating our know-how and expertise to produce the most advanced designs. It’s the essence and the future of AFS. The essence of our know-how, pushed to the limits of its performance.

Our head office is located in Brittany, more precisely in Pencran, Finistère. We are located Espace Joseph Rolland – 29800 PENCRAN

All AFS foils are manufactured at our company in Pencran, France. All AFS Advanced boards are also made here. Some of our boards are made in Tunisia at Terminatech, as are our covers. Finally, although we haven’t yet managed to make the leap, our wings are now made in China, although all R&D is carried out in-house.
